Halloween is a total throw-away holiday in our house. Meaning, if we do something like trick-or-treating that’s cool but, if not, it’s no biggie. I can buy my kids a bag of candy and, for the most part, they are just as happy. Not that I do that. Ok, I totally do that. In fact, one year I really was not feeling the whole trick-or-treating thing so I bought a couple of big bags of candy and rented a movie that the kids had been wanting to see and unabashedly bribed them all to stay home. Whatever works, people.
Anyway, this year, my oldest went the ‘bag of candy, stay home’ route but my younger two were set on going trick-or-treating with their friends in town. But, now that they are older, it’s not such a production….except for the makeup that was needed for their chosen outfits.
Kate wanted to be a sugar skull. In fact, she’s wanted to do that for years so finally we decided this was the year to tackle it. And Abby wanted to be a skeleton…again more face painting. And, I must say, I did a pretty damn good job. And I’m not artistically inclined in any way, shape, or form.
In the spirit of full disclosure, here are the pictures the girls gave me to work from:
And here’s what we ended up with:
Not bad, if I do say so myself! Plus, they look pretty damn badass in this pic, which I love!
